Do you want to be enchanted by the magnetism of Capri?

Hi everyone, travel friends!
Last time we spoke about the city of Naples and its attractions. I promise you we'll talk again about this fantastic city with all its contradictions, but today I want to propose you an excursion to the wonderful island of Capri!

The island of Capri is located in the southern part of the bay of Naples and thanks to its charm, it receives every year thousands of visitors from all around the world.

Who doesn't know Capri? The island of italian and international vip!

In order to reach the island from the city of Naples, you can take a ferryboat or an hydroplane from Molo Beverello. You'll spend 80 minutes for reaching the island by ferryboat and only 40 minutes by hydroplane. Tickets don't cost so much! For information about ticket price and hour, you can click here.

Capri consists of two plateaus, separated by a fertile plain and the Faraglioni, a set of high rocks reaching up through the sea, that are the symbol of the island.
The main massifs of Capri are Mount Tiberio to the east and Mount Solaro to the west, between which there is the small town of Capri, whereas Anacapri is the other inhabited centre that is located to the west of Mount Solaro, in a large and verdant plain.

Capri is an island with a great past. It was first Greek and than Roman, in fact Ceaser August was the first to build his own villa on the island in 29 b.c. Later, the island was visited by many emperors and until the 7th century a.d. it was inhabitated by Roman nobles. In this period many great villas were built, like Villa Jovis and Villa Damecuta, that i suggest you to visit. After the decadence of western roman empire, Capri was occupied by many invaders, like Saracens, Longobards, Anjouins, Aragonese and finally Spanish and during the 18th and the 19th century the island lived again a period of splendor, in unison with Naples, thank to the Bourbons who renewed the city and all the region. In this period many churches and monasteries were built in the city. In the mid-19th century was also rediscovered the Blue Grotto, that nowadays is an attraction for all the tourists.

At present, the vital centre of the island is its principal square, Umberto 1° square, where in summer many events are organized. From this square, you can move into the characteristic streets, that are the arteries of the island.

In 1907 the funicular of Capri was built. It links the harbour of Marina Grande with the centre of Capri. From wagon you'll be able to admire a fantastic view: you can see all the island and also the bay of Naples at the skyline.

You can move into the city also with taxi and autobuses and you can rent scooters and bycicles.
If you want to see the several caves of the island you can also rent a boat. The price for a middle hour boat tour is about 10€.

If you want to come to visit the great island of Capri I can propose you many low cost travel solutions to reach Naples and then the island ( there isn't the airport in Capri). Write me, and I can search for the cheaper flights for you!

See you soon! ;)
